Booking 2020-09-11T00:13:24+00:00

In the context of COVID 19 we are providing primarily PHONE visits.
Please book your PHONE visit online. If necessary we may book an IN-PERSON appointment as a result of the call.

Under reason for visit please type:
1. reason for visit
2. preferred phone number

Your physician will call you as close to your appointment time as possible. Just like in-person appointments

Please try to ensure that you have access to a land-line or good cell service if possible
Please do your best to be sitting in a quiet environment for your appointment
It is sometimes helpful to have a pen and paper handy

If you have an in-person appointment please WEAR a MASK

Online booking provides you with the flexibility to book your appointment at a time that is convenient for you.

Saltspring Island Health Centre is pleased to be offering more convenient booking options for our patients. The platform we’ve selected is secure and the interface is user friendly. We’ve provided a set of instructions and a FAQ below to help get you started and our Medical Office Assistants are available to help.

Please remember; all appointments are to be booked for ONE issue only. If they are booked for multiple issues one will be dealt with and you will be asked to re-book for remaining issues. This allows the physician to provide the highest quality care and work within the allotted appointment time.

Please note that at this time we are not offering the following types of appointments through online booking as they may require alternative appointment durations:

  • complete physicals
  • counselling
  • liquid nitrogen treatments
  • excisions or biopsies
  • injections (including joint injections, allergy shots, and vaccinations)
  • annual chronic disease planning visits

For these appointments or to book by phone call (250) 537-1828 Monday to Friday during office hours.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I change my email address for online booking? 2018-11-20T00:08:37+00:00

First, please note that changing the email address associated with your booking account does NOT change the email address that Saltspring Island Health Centre has on file for you. If you have a new primary email address, please ensure you update your contact information with us directly.

As for changing the email address associated with your booking account, you have two options:

Option 1: Start the booking process as usual. When asked to login, select the Create an Account option. Go ahead and create a new account using your new email address. Following this option does not retain your past booking appointment history.

Option 2: Please go to Veribook, click the Login link at the top right, and sign in. Then click on Profile Settings, then click Edit, then click Account Information. Enter your new email address, and click Save.

Please remember to only use email addresses that you frequently check.

How often may I book an appointment? 2018-11-20T00:20:42+00:00

We trust our patients to know when they need to see us and we have not constrained how often our patients can book with us using our online booking system. Ensuring equitable patient access to our providers is important to us and we ask that our patients respect our time and the needs of other patients.

If a situation does occur where a patient is perceived to be misusing our online booking system a member of our team will reach out to discuss the situation. If we are unable to arrive at an agreement about what constitutes appropriate use of our online booking system we may have to restrict booking privileges.

Examples of problematic booking patterns might include:

  • booking more than one appointment per day
  • booking frequent appointments in the absence of an ongoing medical concern
  • a pattern of booking and cancelling appointments on short notice
  • failing to show up for appointments booked
What if my provider has a locum? 2018-11-20T00:27:34+00:00

When a provider will be away, patients may continue to use our online booking system to see a locum. Select your usual provider and move through the booking process as would be usual. The system will let you know that you will be seeing a locum and you will have the option to accept or decline the appointment.

I forgot my password! 2018-11-20T00:05:36+00:00

No problem! Start the booking process as usual. When asked to login, select the ‘Forgot your password?’ option. Enter the email address that you associated with your booking account and you will be sent a temporary password by email.

Why do I need to provide my PHN? 2018-11-20T00:04:30+00:00

Since a single account may be used to schedule appointments for multiple patients, we need you to provide a PHN number so that we know, with certainty, who the appointment is for. Accordingly, please be sure to accurately enter the PHN number of the patient for whom an appointment is requested. For example, if a parent is scheduling an appointment for his or her child, please be sure to enter the child’s PHN number.

Sorry for the inconvenience – we needed to make this compromise to make it easier for families to book and manage their appointments.

We also use the PHN to verify that you are a patient of our clinic and so that we can ensure you are booking an appointment with the correct provider for you.

What system do you use for online booking? 2018-11-19T23:59:41+00:00

Saltspring Island Health Centre uses Veribook, a Canadian online appointment booking software provider, to enable patients to schedule appointments. This system has been integrated with our electronic medical records system so that we can offer an entirely automated online appointment scheduling system. All available appointments can be scheduled and managed online 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

In order to make appointments you will require a Veribook account. You will be invited to create an account the first time you use our online booking system.

Can I use my account to make appointments for family members? 2018-11-20T00:03:49+00:00

Yes, we’ve enabled this feature to make it easier for families to manage their appointments.

To use this feature to book for yourself and a loved one you would book yourself in normally; choosing a date and time, supplying your PHN number, and logging into your Veribook account using your email and password.

You would then refresh the page or go back, and book in your loved one, choosing a date and time, supplying their PHN, but logging into your own Veribook account using your email and password.

The confirmation and reminders will go to individual who used their email and password to sign in.
